A true thrifter will tell you that the best part of the fun of thrifting is the challenge and the hunt for the great finds. But also, it is finding that find…that perfect piece at a fantastic price. The brag worthy piece that will have pride of place in your wardrobe. These are just a few of my best and favourite finds so far.
This white Danier leather motorcycle jacket was mistakenly priced at $9.99 and I got it for $4.50 on a 50% off day…score one for the thrifting team!!
This dress I made from the thrifted bed skirt.
This dress that I made from a thrifted table cloth.
These scarves tops made from thrifted vintage scarves.
These vintage handbags are just a few of my favourites.
These thrifted dresses. Most are vintage.
These leopard print shoes which are some of my most worn pairs.
So there are just a few of my favourite and most loved and best thrift finds. What are your favourite finds from the thrift store? Cheers, Michele
So on a recent thrift trip I veered away from primarily looking at summer dresses towards looking at sweaters for fall.
This white with black stripped sweater is thin enough to be a great transition piece from summer to fall. It was only $4.49.
This lovely grey sweater is part lambs wool and cashmere and is as soft as butter. It was only $4.49 too. Great deal and a great neutral piece.
This red v-neck is also very soft and thin knit for transitioning into the cooler weather. It was only $3.99. Why so inexpensive, I don’t know, but who am I to complain.
Do you use sweaters as a transition pieces into fall and winter. Cheers, Michele
Here is just a selection of my favourite thrifted polka dot finds. As you can see, I have a real passion for polka dots. I am always on the lookout for new pieces.
As you can see I really love navy with white polka dots and black with white polka dots the most. Do you have a pattern or print that you particularly love? I just can help myself when it comes to Polka dots. Cheers, Michele
Today is National Thrift day so in it’s honour I went out and hit 4 thrift stores. I will be posting hauls from those trips in future posts. But at a recent 30% off day at Value Village, I got two dresses and a top. And on a recent Friday I got a dress for 50% off at Salvation Army.
This lovely patterned dress has already been worn many times and was only $9.99 after discount at Value Village.
This black and white houndstooth Anne Klein dress was only $9.99 and goodness knows I love me some houndstooth so it will get a lot of wear.
This brown and black leopard print top is still light enough to wear in the summer for only $4.20 at Value Village.
This beautiful watercolour floral dress is fully lined and is gorgeous for only $7.50 at Salvation Army. What do you think of my finds? I can’t seem to stop myself from buying summer dresses even though summer in Ottawa is relatively short. Cheers, Michele
Again with the bright colour choices!! I seemed to find only bright oranges, pinks and purples on this thrift haul and at 30% off many of the items, it was not only a vibrant haul but easy on the wallet.
This orangey red dress was a steal for $9.99 at Salvation Army. It is by Anne Taylor and is a great find.
This purple top from Merona was also from Salvation Army and was only $4.99.
These Ralph Lauren shorts in this amazing bright orange were only $5.60 with my 30% off card from Value Village.
These hot pink shorts from Lord & Taylor were also $5.60.
This hot pink top was only $4.20 with my coupon card.
This striped dress with all it’s bright orange and pink stripes was only $5.60. And it has pockets!!
This Merona Orange with white polka dot dress was one I had passed over after trying it on in a previous thrifting visit, but it was still there this time and I decided to snatch it up for $5.60. It has pockets too! What do you think of my colourful finds? Cheers, Michele
Here are just a few items that I thrifted recently for 30% off with a coupon. You know I rarely thrift without my trusty coupons.
This beautiful blue and white polka-dotted dress is so light and airy, and heck, it has pockets too. It was only $6.66 after my discount.
This beautiful 80s number complete with enormous shoulder pads was also $6.66 after discount. I just love the print and the stripes. It will star in a future refashion where I try to modernize it a bit.
This Anne Klein top was only $3.50 after discount, it fits perfectly and I love the cut and the pattern.
These three pairs of pants are amazingly long enough for me and were from $6.30 to $5.60 each.
That is all I found on a recent thrifting trip, but I am very happy with my finds. Cheers, Michele
I have received lots of wonderful feedback for my questionnaire and have head that the thrifts and refashions are the most popular posts. Unfortunately I am a casual employee so work can be scarce at times, as a result, even thrifting has to be dialled back in an effort to save money. And even if I go thrifting, I don’t always find anything I want or need. But never fear, there will be more coming. Thank you to all of you who took your valuable time to answer my questions about what you would like to see on this blog. That was incredibly kind of you. Stay tuned, I am thinking of going thrifting this weekend, I have a 30% off coupon burning a hole in my wallet. Cheers, Michele
