I am still preparing for my vacation to Jamaica in the spring and I found these few pieces at the last 50% off day at Value Village. I think there is a theme here as everything is either blue, green or turquoise or a mixture of these colours.
This necklace was originally $4.99.
This dress from Lands End was a little more pricey originally at $17.99.
This long maxi dress was originally $14.99.
I think I did quite well in adding to my vacation wardrobe. I love these dresses and the necklace can be worn with several of my other dresses as well. Cheers, Michele
This was just one thrift store visit and I got a complete thrifted outfit with clothes and accessories for about $20. Not bad in my books.
This necklace is just my style and was only $3.99.
This sheer top will need to be worn with a camisole, but I love the vibrant orange colour and at only $4.99 it was a steal.
This eyelet white skirt is a perfect summer piece for only $4.99 it is a bargain too.
These shoes a little worn but still in great shape and at only $5.99 they complete the outfit perfectly.
So what do you think of my completely thrifted outfit? Not bad for around $20.00.

So one year ago on the 24th of September, I posted for my first time on my blog. I have really enjoyed blogging, far more than I expected and hope to be doing this for a long time to come. I want to thank all the lovely people who have visited my blog, signed up or commented on my posts. In honour of this milestone, I will be doing a giveaway that is open worldwide.
Rules of Giveaway:
The rules are very simple, just subscribe to my blog, leave a comment that you wish to be entered, and your name is entered, simple as that. If you are already subscribed, just send me a comment that you wish to be entered in the giveaway. On the 30th of September, I will randomly pick a name. I will contact the winner and get some stats on that person which will remain private. Then I will go and shop for them and find a complete outfit with accessories included based on their figure stats, shoe size and style preferences. I will post what I found before sending the prize to the winner. The entire outfit will be my gift to the lucky subscriber and it is open worldwide.
Hopefully the winner will be kind enough to send me a picture of them wearing the outfit and I really hope they like what I bought for them. Help me celebrate my anniversary by signing up and entering the giveaway. So I hope you will sign up for this giveaway and good luck to the participants. Cheers, Michele
I went to Value Village recently and was surprised that I found anything, but am very happy with what I did find. I don’t know if my thrifting luck has taken a vacation or I am just being more fussy lately, but I just can’t seem to find things I like. But I broke my thrifting losing streak with these three lovely things. I didn’t have a coupon and there wasn’t a sale either, so these items are full price.
This white eyelet dress from Old Navy is exactly my style and even though it was a little pricy at $9.99 I love the style so much, I just had to pick it up.
This vintage costume jewelry necklace in a stunning red with a gold metal clasp is exactly my kind of jewelry. It was only $3.99.
This vintage London travel scarf joined my collection for only $1.99. I know my thrifting posts have been getting less frequent, but that’s just the luck or lack of luck of the thrifter. Hopefully this little thrift haul signals an end to my dry spell of thrifting. Cheers, Michele
I found these new treasures on a recent thrift trip and am very happy with my new finds. And all were 30% off cause goodness knows…I don’t go thrifting unless I can save even more than the original tag price if I can help it.
This beautiful genuine leather handbag was only $3.50. And it is beautifully made and vintage.
This little black and brown faux crocodile bag is in perfect condition and was $7.00. More than I usually pay, but I loved it at first glance.
This is not a vintage bag, but has a vintage feel to it. It is a Nine West bag in this beautiful teal colour and was only $5.60 with my coupon.
This vintage white bead necklace was only $2.10 and I absolutely love it!
The find of the trip is this souvenir vintage Paris scarf which will find its way into a refashion when I find another scarf for the back of a top. I am going a little crazy with my vintage scarf refashions, but I love them, so I don’t intend stopping any time soon. What do you think of my handbags and accessory finds? Cheers, Michele
Yesterday was the Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show and I was lucky enough to go with my beautiful daughter Kate. She held my bag while I tried things on and carried my jacket so I could be a giant magpie and flit from one shiny and beautiful thing to another. Although I don’t really flit more lollop. The vendors were super friendly and helpful and I will be definitely going back to the next one in the fall.
Here are some pictures of the assortment of beautiful jewelry at the show. I will post some other pictures of the clothing and accessories that caught my eye in a future post. Sorry I didn’t take more pictures, I was too busy looking at things to stop and get out my camera.
Sparkly earrings galore!!!
Beautiful Bakelite bangles.
My beautiful magpie daughter Katie.
Beautiful necklaces and bracelets, more sparkly things.
There were two huge rooms of vendors at the show and we spent quite a while perusing their wares. I only bought one thing as some of the prices were certainly out of my means or the sizes were sooooo tiny that there was no way they would fit me. Also my thrifty wallet and soul just couldn’t handle spending more than thrift store prices. But I am super happy about what I got. What I bought will show up in a future post. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Cheers, Michele
I have been lucky enough to be able to enjoy wearing jewelry that once graced the neck of my mother and my grandmother. I wish both these ladies were still with me, but at least I have these necklaces to remember them.
This first necklaces is a locket that once was my grandmothers, that my mother used to wear which has pictures of my two daughters; Katie and Maddie from when they were little girls.
This necklace is a watch that my mother used to wear. It has beautiful engraving on the back and still works.
My mother had this necklace with the small dog and the bird figures on it made into a pendant. It used to be a pin that her mother used to wear.
These pieces are not valuable in a monetary sense, but they are priceless to me because they maintain a link to my mom and her mom. Both ladies who lived life to the full. Hopefully I will carry on their legacy and pass these pieces on to my daughters some day…just not too soon I hope. Cheers, Michele
