Having Rosacea and older skin can make doing makeup a little tricky. I have been recently watching tons of makeup tutorials on YouTube and have finally found someone who has shown me how to do my makeup properly. If you ever get a chance to check out Lisa Eldridge (her photo is at the beginning of this post) who is an amazing British celebrity makeup artist and makeup designer. She does terrific tutorials and seems like a genuine and lovely person. She suggests that if you have problematic skin, don’t try to cover all of it up, just treat the areas that are of concern. So at her suggestion, I have been trying out a new makeup routine and am loving it. First she suggested a lightweight, SPF foundation like a BB or CC cream or a tinted moisturizer all over the face.
I have been using a sample of the BareMinerals Bareskin foundation serum that my daughter Katie got me and I will definitely get the full size when this runs out. But luckily a little goes a very long way. I gently rub this in all over my face until it is all blended.
Then using a small makeup brush I just gently cover the problem areas with this Clinique Chubby Foundation stick in small patting motions. It gives great coverage and doesn’t seem to crease or break me out. And it blends in beautifully with the foundation.
I don’t use powder even though I probably should, but I haven’t found one yet that doesn’t look chalky on me, but I do love this blush from The Body Shop in Guava.
Then it is mascara, and this is my new favourite, the Maybelline, The Falsies Push Up Drama formulation. It is waterproof and really black.
Sometimes I do eyeliner and I love the Kat Von D tattoo liner in Trooper. I find it easy enough to use even for a makeup klutz like me.
The Lipstick I have been getting the most compliments on is by Essence and is in Wear Berries. It is a nice slightly plummy colour that is easy to wear.
As I don’t wear makeup all that often and I certainly don’t wear much, so it only takes me less than 5 minutes to do my makeup in the morning. Luckily I have found some great products that are working well for me. What are your favourite makeup products? Cheers, Michele
