Since it is Friday and a good day to enjoy a drink and relax after a hard week of school or work, here is another delicious potent potable by my resident cocktail mixologist, my daughter Katie. This will kick you in the buttocks, so sip it sensibly.
The Whiskey Creamsicle
1 1/2 oz good Whiskey or reduce to your taste
1 oz Galliano
1/2 oz of either Cherry Gin or Cherry Brandy
1/2 can Lemon or Orange Soda, preferably San Pellegrino or a good natural lemon or orange soda.
dash of bitters
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add alcohol and shake. Pour it into a tall glass and top it off with half a can of orange or lemon soda. Add a dash of bitters, preferably black currant bitters if you can get them. Serve and enjoy sensibly or not according to your preference. Remember your poor choices from imbibing this drink are yours and yours alone. I take no responsibility other than the earlier disclaimer about the potency of this drink. Enjoy! Cheers, Michele
These are just a few of my favourite lines and products for skin care, cleansing and moisturizing. I have combination, rosacea skin prone to breakouts. Such a joy! So skin care is very important to me. And these are the top lines for my skin and my favourite products in those lines. Some of these lines and products are wickedly expensive so I have only been able to try them in free sample sizes. Hopefully some day I will have sufficient funds to be able to include them into my regular skin care rotation. All images are courtesy of the Sephora Website.

I bought these shoes from Shoe Dazzle a while ago on sale but didn’t like the side flaps on the front. I liked the rest of the shoes very much and always knew I could fix the problem that I had with them.
So I took my seam ripper and took the side flaps off. As simple as that.
What do you think? They are so much better now and only took me less than 5 minutes to do. Cheers, Michele
I seem to be attracted to reds and pinks lately which is the reason for the rosey title of this post. These three dresses were all purchased at Value Village with a 30% off coupon, I know, I have a lot of them, that just means I shop there a lot and get my coupon card filled quickly.
This first red and navy patterned dress is from Anne Klein. I love the shape, the colours and the pattern of this beautiful dress, but I especially love the lion head detail of the belt and it’s amazing price of only $5.60 after discount. The pricing odds were in my favour this time.
This pink and orange gauzy shift dress from Joe Fresh was only $6.30 after my discount. More than the Anne Klein dress, crazy I know!
This last beautiful red dress from Jane Alexander was also only $6.30 with my coupon. It has a matching belt and fits beautifully. Very chic.
So three beautiful rosey coloured dresses for under $19.00!! What a bargain! What do you think of my finds? Cheers and happy thrifting, Michele
When my girls were little, it was often a struggle to get them to eat enough fruit. I would give them each a little dish with the chocolate sauce and a big plate of fruit. They couldn’t get enough and the fruit got eaten up and they felt like they were getting away with being bad because they were eating chocolate. I hope you enjoy.
Mini Chocolate Fondues
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 Tbsp butter or margarine
3 Tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
3 oranges peeled and separated into segments
3 bananas peeled and cut into 1 inch slices
3 apples cored and sliced into wedges
1 can of pineapple rings drained and cut into large chunks
1 pint of whole strawberries hulled
1 cantaloupe peeled, seeded and cut up
1 honeydew melon peeled, seeded and cut up
4 kiwis peeled and cut into thick slices
In a microwave proof bowl melt all ingredients and stir til smooth. Divide up the chocolate sauce in 4 small dishes. Place dish on a plate and distribute the different fruits evenly amongst the plates. Eat and enjoy. Cheers, Michele
Egypt was a place of many contrasts…horrible poverty and disease and yet beautiful ancient monuments. I am very glad we went and it was a profound experience which changed me. I appreciate more the beauty of life and how it contrasts with the not so beautiful things. It makes me appreciate how much I have and how lucky I am.
Hopefully these pictures can show you some of the beauty that we saw and how amazing it was to be there. We took a cruise up the Nile from Cairo, visited the Valley of the Kings, Memphis, the Valley of the Queens, saw hot air balloons in the morning over the Nile, took a train from Thebes to Cairo and so much more. Hope you enjoy these pictures, Cheers, Michele
Once again I seem to be only able to find tops at the thrift store. How weird!! But these tops are quite pretty and spring like so I am very happy with my finds. And they were all 30% off with my coupon.
This lacy knitted sweater was a steal at $3.99 before discount.
This sheer and stripped green blouse will look perfect tucked into shorts or a skirt in the spring months to come at only $6.99 original price.
This scrub shirt covered in owls will be perfect for work, originally $3.99.
This yellow top will be used in a refashion (maybe) with one of my thrifted scarves. It was only $4.99 originally.
This sheer cream with black accents blouse is beautiful especially for only $6.99 before discount.
This white and lime green gingham top still had it’s original tags and I got it for $4.99 before discount. Hope you like the finds. Have a lovely day and happy thrifting. Cheers, Michele
