Another Uncertain Dress Refashion!! Advice Welcome and Needed!!

Posted on

I received so much fantastic feedback regarding my polka dot dress refashion that I decided to throw this one out there to get some help.  This dress was purchased in a recent Value Village thrift shop visit for only $8.99.  It is a beautiful rich caramel coloured knit dress, but it is too long.  I am not sure what to do with it.

I have already taken out the shoulder pads which conveniently were attached with Velcro.

But my question is, what do I do now???  It could just be hemmed to knee-length OR I could cut it into a turtle necked sweater and a skirt to be worn either together or as separates.  What should I do??  Please advise, I would love some feedback.  Cheers, Michele

It looks like a great dress to wear with a belt and boots. I am not a big turtleneck fan and would probably cut it to a more open neckline. Also, I agree that knee length would be better. It truly is a pretty color and has great potential. Maybe you could use what you cut off to embellish it in some way?

I am leaning towards just knee length hemming, but I might take off the turtleneck too. Not sure yet, heck, I haven’t even completely finished the polka dot dress that I asked for help with either. I have new cap sleeves pinned in, but need the proper coloured thread. Off to the sewing store tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback, I always love to hear what other people think. I often find that my refashion pile becomes a monster that I don’t even know how to tackle. So I am trying to go through it one by one and not look at the rest. Thanks again, Cheers, Michele
