First Thrift Haul 2016!

Posted on

So here since the beginning of the year, I have been thrifting several times, with only a little luck, sometimes coming away empty-handed.  But I was able to find some great pieces eventually.  I had a 25% off coupon for Value Village, and the prices are listed pre-coupon.  As usual I found a few dresses as that is the section I always search first when ever I thrift, that way if my time in-store is short, I will have looked at my favourite things first.

This patterned dress is very 80s and I just had to snip the enormous shoulder pads out of it to make it fit better.  Only $9.99 Salvation Army Thrift Store

I love this bat-wing sleeved 80s dress with the matching belt.  Fits like a dream without the huge shoulder pads I removed.  $13.99 Value Village

This peacock coloured dress is amazing, even if it is a little short.  I may be able to take down the hem a bit, or add a band of coordinating fabric in the waist or hem.  Haven’t decided yet.  $10.99 Value Village

This oatmeal coloured ultra suede dress with pockets and a belt may become a dress with a little tweaking or a long sleeveless coat.  Haven’t decided with this one yet, it will go into my re-fashion stash until I do.  $8.99 Salvation Army Thrift Store.

Navy and white, especially in polka dots, is one of my favourite combinations.  This little top was only $4.99 at Value Village.

I scored 3 pairs of pants (that are plenty long enough for me) and a pair of capris while thrifting.  Varying in price from $6.99 to $8.99 at Value Village and Salvation Army Thrift Store. From Top Left going L-R top to bottom; red capris with original tags still on, khaki pants, slim leg jeans, wide leg trouser jeans.

So what do you think of my finds.  I think the little blue and white top will look amazing with the red capris in the spring.  Cheers, Michele

How do you find so much great stuff!! The thrift or charity shops here are becoming useless! I think maybe they’re all starting to think they’re vintage clothing! Great finds and so many without any major alterations.

Thank you, it’s just luck I guess. I agree, the thrift shops here in Ottawa have gone crazy as far as the pricing. Also, lots of the best finds are scoured out by buyers for vintage shops. So I have to rely on luck and frequent visits to find anything. And I go to the thrift stores a lot, sometimes several times a week.
