This dress is an amazing find and not only that, it only cost $6.99. I already wore it today so unfortunately I have taken the price tag off.
The maker Leslie Fay was a very popular clothing maker in the U.S. It was a clothing business founded by Fred Pomerantz. In 1942, he began making uniforms for the women in the US armed services. After the war ended, Pomerantz decided to produce a line of women’s clothing using the same sizing as he had used during the war.
These dresses can sell for over $100 with collectors on Etsy or eBay, but I just love it as it is, and know I will get lots of wear out of it.
This second dress is made in France and I just love the pattern with the red peacocks. The colours are beautiful and the midi length skirt is very in style right now so it will get lots of wear out of it too. It only cost me $8.99. It always amazes me how some great dresses are so inexpensive at thrift stores and other ones that are not so great cost almost $20.00. The pricers don’t always know the finds they have, lucky me!
Let me know what your newest great finds are. These are certainly two of my favourites right now. Cheers, Michele
